Black Friday is nearly upon us and lots of stores and shops in Chester and the surrounding areas are taking part.

It’s the only day of the year when you can grab a bargain for Christmas , if you're prepared to brave the crowds and face the queues.

But before you do anything, you need a game plan and a general idea of where you want to go.

We've put together some of the most popular Black Friday shops in Chester city centre, the Greyhound Retail Park, Broughton Shopping Park and Cheshire Oaks so you can get a general idea of where you want to go to grab the bargains.

Greyhound Retail Park

Mothercare - The parent and baby retailer has launched the first of its early Black Friday deals, with up to 60 per cent off toys, including soft toys, activity gyms and active toys for the outdoors. Mothercare will be releasing top offers across all departments all week, with the biggest deals going live on Friday. You can keep an eye on the brand's dedicated Black Friday page , which has all the latest information and updates.

Argos have already started their sales online and you can get in-store collection from the Fast Track counter in-store when you buy online.

B&M - B&M promise even bigger and better deals on electricals, furniture, toys and homeware on Black Friday. We’ll also have a few surprises up our sleeve so come back in November for the countdown to even more big savings on big brands.

Some of the deals you can expect are 33% off homeware, toys and electricals, amongst other deals.

John Lewis have hundreds of offers available, including 20% on selected Dyson hoovers, £20 off ghd hair straighteners to name a few. Household and electrical appliances will be where the bargains are, and for a better idea, visit their website .

Halfords - One of Halfords’ big toy picks for Christmas is the Air Runner self-balancing board with the retailer expecting to sell out quickly. On Friday it will be reduced from £499 to £350.Other offers include a Frozen 14" kid's bike reduced from £100 to £59 and a VooDoo BMX reduced from £299 to £59.

Currys PC World have thousands of deals for customers in store and online, including large screen TVs with up to £600 off, £300 off Samsung appliances like American style refrigerators, and nutri bullet blenders from £39.99.

Boots is taking part in Black Friday

Cheshire Oaks

Sainsbury's are taking part in Black Friday but at a low level and the stores will be open at their regular times. There will be a select number of products on offer throughout the weekend as well as a modest number of additional deals on smaller, non-food items over a week-long period.

The main, front of store deals on electrical household items will be available from Black Friday until Sunday, November 29 , while stocks last.

Clarks have got Flash Offers on all week with 25% off different types of footwear throughout the week.

Marks and Spencer will once again be taking part in Black Friday offering huge savings across all departments, opening at their regular times with online offers already started.

H&M are taking part in Black Friday but as yet haven't revealed specific deals.

Cheshire Oaks

Debenhams The department store will have Black Friday deals across all departments, but most shoppers can find big savings on products which usually have a bigger label like electricals, technology and furniture.

Debenhams Plus also sells cheap laptops, TVs, kitchen appliances and other gadgets at discount prices.

Coast are offering 30% off everything on Black Friday

The Perfume Shop promises huge discounts on your favourite scents, such as Diesel Only the Brave reduced from £51.00 to £24.99, Ghost Deep Night down from £34.00 to £16.49 and Armani Diamonds Black Carat down to £24.49 from £36.00.

The Disney Store will be having a range of sales on Disney merchandise and toys.

Money off deals online from 10% when you spend £30 or more, upwards.

The Body Shop have 40% off on deals and offer 'Black Friday bundles' with some savings from £104.50 - down to £41.80.

Office The shoe shop are giving customers 10% off everything this Friday and offers are also available online.

Tesco Extra All 250 Extra stores will be participating in Black Friday. They will close at 12am and reopen for the start of the sale at 5am. Last year there were particularly big discounts in consoles and games, with savings of up to 40% off on PlayStation and XBOX titles, and particularly good deals in console and game bundles. Tesco’s deal site currently has no offers in this range, but there are some savings to be had and it’s likely there will be heavy discounts across Black Friday weekend.

Savings of £250 on high end LED TVs are also highly likely.

River Island are offering up to 50% off your Winter Want list, slashing prices on winter coats from £90.00 to £45.00 in some cases.

Wallis are offering up to 30% off everything during Black Friday week.

Topshop customers can expect 'amazing' deals on offer both in store and online. This year they will be reducing hundreds of fashion and accessories. Poundstretcher in Saltney will be taking part in Black Friday. Typically expensive items will be discounted, like an Arctic Fur Throw, now £6.99 down from £9.99, and a King Size Memory Foam Mattress, now £99.99 down from £149.99.

Stores not taking part

Aldi will not be taking part in Black Friday, as explained in this tweet:

Asda are not taking part in Black Friday this year 'due to shopper fatigue setting in around flash sales on big-ticket, non-essential items at Christmas'. Instead they are spreading savings over the festive period - so it might be best to leave a browse here to another day, so you can get your hands on goodies elsewhere.
