An amateur theatrical company in Neston is preparing to enchant audiences.
Neston Players are putting on a production of Enchanted April, based on the novel by Elizabeth von Arnim, from May 27-30.
Set in the 1920s, the play revolves around the transformation of four women, who for different reasons are at an unhappy period in their lives.
Lotty Wilton, stifled and dissatisfied with her life, spots an advertisement in the Times for a month’s let in an Italian villa that promises ‘wisteria and sunshine’.
Seeing her chance to escape dreary, rain-lashed England and regenerate her life, she joins forces with an acquaintance, Rose Arnott, who is in need of a respite from marital woes.
To fund their expedition, they advertise for additional companions and are joined by the formidable Mrs Graves and the troubled society beauty Lady Caroline.
Neston Players was awarded a NODA Best Play award for a recent production of Accrington Pals.
The play is at Neston Civic Hall at 7.30pm and tickets are £8 with £7 concessions available Wednesday and Thursday.
