For their first Cathedral Concert in their 2016/17 season, Chester Philharmonic Orchestra have chosen to perform yet another variation from the usual classical concert format.

You can hear two symphonies for the price of one plus an overture!

This season has been designated The High Five Season. Each concert will feature one of the favourite symphonies numbered “5”.

On Saturday, November 26, you will hear Beethoven’s popular and instantly recognisable Fifth Symphony. The concert gets under way with Weber’s Overture Oberon, followed by Sibelius’ Symphony No 3 and Beethoven’s 5th.

The conductor will be Stephen Threlfall, director of music at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, and the orchestra will also host Sheriff of Chester Myles Hogg and his Lady Marilyn Hogg at the performance.

Tickets for this event at 7.30pm in the Cathedral, are priced at £16, £12 and £9 with students and children £5. They are available form 01244 500959 or www.chesterphilorchestra.co.uk
