Chester Music Society announces first celebrity concert of 2014

Jonathan Dormand and Marisa Gupata (cello and piano) to play St Mary's Centre

Jonathan Dormand and Marisa Gupta (cello and piano) are the guests at the next Chester Music Society celebrity concert.

For its first New Year celebrity concert in 2014, Chester Music Society welcomes Jonathan Dormand and Marisa Gupata (cello and piano) at 7.30pm in St Mary’s Centre on Wednesday (January 8).

Cellist Jonathan Dormand, born in Yorkshire, has performed as both solo artist and chamber musician throughout the UK and much of Europe, Canada, Japan and the USA at venues such as Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall and festivals including the Prades Pablo Casals Festival.

Jonathan is supported by the Countess of Munster Trust.

Born in America, Marisa Gupta is the recipient of numerous awards, including top prizes at the International Concours Maria Canals in Barcelona and the Gian Battista Viotti International Piano Competition, a Solti Foundation Award, a Fulbright scholarship, and at the Haverhill Sinfonia Soloists' Competition (UK).

Their programme includes sonatas by Brahms and Poulenc as well as works by Beethoven and Popper.
