Sax sensation can mix jazz with the best in stage musicals

North Wales Jazz continues its programme of weekly concerts at the Royal British Legion, Llay, Wrexham on Tuesday, March 4.

Australian multi-instrumentalist Casey Greene, who plays tenor, alto and soprano saxes and flute with equal ability, pays a welcome return to the venue with his quartet.

Casey, a graduate of Sydney Conservatorium of Music, has toured with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, accompanying the legendary Ray Charles, and has appeared at many of Australia’s leading jazz venues and festivals.

He has toured the Far East, Middle East and Europe and performed at California’s famed Monterey Jazz Festival.

Now living in Shropshire, Casey, whose chief influences include the legendary John Coltrane and Dexter Gordon plus Latin players David Sanchez and Maraca, has performed with Olivia Newton-John and in productions including Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, West Side Story, Chicago, Show Boat, 42nd Street and Singin’ in the Rain .

With his ensemble Quiver, he has released an album of Latin American compositions, Cous Cous .

Completing the line-up of the Casey Greene Quartet are three excellent musicians: Paul Sawtell (keyboards),

Dave Lynane (double bass) and Dave Hassell (drums).
