Chester group urges locals to beat their total of £600

Cherry Evans, from the Saltney Stonebridge Community Group, took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning last September, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Now she’s urging people to sign up to hold their own coffee morning this September – and to beat her fantastic fundraising total.

She said: “It’s quite simple really; without Macmillan I would be a widow. Organising a coffee morning is our way of giving back to Macmillan, who have helped our family through extremely difficult times.”

Macmillan’s fundraising manager for Chester, Louisa Walmsley, said: “We are very grateful to Cherry Evans and the Saltney Stonebridge Community Group for all their fantastic support.

“I hope she inspires other local people to hold a coffee morning and try to beat her fantastic fundraising total."

Pesto in Tarporley to offer a fashion, coffee and cake event in aid of Macmillan

Pesto at Cabbage Hall, on Forest Road, has partnered with a local designer clothing retailer to host a Caran D’Ache mini boutique in the restaurant.

The open event runs from 9.30-11.30am as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and guests will be able to enjoy free tea and coffee as well as homemade cakes, made by Pesto and Caran D’Ache team members, in return for donations to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Sara Edwards, co-owner of Pesto, adds: “As two local businesswomen and close friends, this is a fantastic opportunity for Lisa and I to work together on creating a fundraising event for a cause that means so much to so many people.

“This event means that guests can ‘give as they shop’ and donate whilst enjoying a wonderful morning of fashion and refreshments!”

Caran D’Ache, which has two Tarporley stores on Chestnut Terrace and has recently opened a third shop in Frodsham, will also be kindly donating 15% from all clothing and accessories purchased on the day at Pesto Cabbage Hall.

Co-owner of Caran D’Ache Lisa Moxham said: “This is a cause very close to my heart so I’m delighted to be able to support the great work that Macmillan Cancer Support do by partnering with Pesto on this fantastic event.”
