World Cup football fever is in the air and Grosvenor Shopping Centre is kicking off the campaign with a fun-filled week.

Football Frenzy will be held in Grosvenor Shopping Centre from June 2-8.

The shopping centre is on a mission to find out whether the people of Chester favour their British roots or aspire to be full of Italian passion with an ‘England vs Italy taste test’ poll on Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8.

Shoppers are invited to test  their patriotism in honour of England’s first match of the competition for the chance to win the perfect ‘footie night in’ hamper, crammed with beer, snacks, pizza vouchers and more.

Grosvenor Shopping Centre manager, Julie Webb, said: “There’s nothing like international competitiveness to unite the country and even get  those who aren’t a fan of football ordinarily to burst with nationalistic pride! We’re looking forward to finding out just how patriotic our shoppers are.”

“I wonder whether a great British ale will prevail or an Italian larger will tip the poll; will good old English grub win over Italian delicacies? We’re about to find out!”

To celebrate the sporting event of the year, football trickster Craig Gorey will also be showing off his skills in centre and inviting shoppers to have at go at some tricks of their own in masterclasses on Saturday, June 7.

A ‘man crèche’ will be in centre all week, providing shoppers with a free Wi-Fi zone, perfect for catching up on the latest sports news.

Julie added: “We hope everyone enjoys all the footie fun and gets stuck in, whether they have a go at some record-breaking keepie-uppies or relax in the ‘man crèche’, there’s something for all to enjoy.”

Shoppers can also take the ‘patriotism test’ online during the week at The Grosvenor Centre website.
