Chester Operatic Society will transport audiences to the land of Oz for the 75th anniversary of the famous Hollywood film.

The society presents Over The Rainbow, a night of musical entertainment inspired by the land of Oz, on Friday, August 15, at Alexander’s in Rufus Court, Chester.

Ideas and images from the show will inspire the group’s song choices, ideas like the iconic image of the ruby shoes or the yellow brick road or the idea that there is no place like home.

Music will also be drawn from The Wiz and the hit musical Wicked (both of which are based on the stories of Oz).

There is one song from the original film which will feature prominently though,  the much loved Somewhere Over The Rainbow which will be given several arrangements on the evening.

The event will take place on the green at the back of Alexander’s with bar and refreshments available throughout.

The music will be followed by a screening of the film The Wizard of Oz  starring Judy Garland.

The show will begin at 7.15pm. Tickets are  £7 for the musical show alone; £5 for the film alone and £10 if you wish to see both.
