The Chester Film Co-op has created a new show entitled Here.

The show brings three North West-based video artists with international profiles to the city, including Liverpool-based Paul Rooney whose film Dust has been screened at Tate Britain.

It also features celebrated video work by artist Imogen Stidworthy and Manchester-based collaborators Emma Rushton and Derek Tyman.

Here will be screened inside Studio 1  on Northgate Street every Saturday from noon-4pm and projected on to the window every evening for street viewing until August 13.

It follows the success of The Chester Film Co-op’s inaugural show in September 2013, All Together Now, which brought together contemporary video artists living or working in Chester.

Cllr Stuart Parker, executive member for culture and economy, said: “It is fantastic to see The Chester Film Co-op bringing some of the leading, most interesting and challenging moving image work to Chester, as well as giving opportunities to emerging and graduate film makers and artists.”

Running alongside the film screenings in Studio 1 over the summer will be a range of other cultural activities for all the community to enjoy in Studio 2.

University of Chester-based Momentum Theatre will present (V)-Is-It Chester? on Saturday, August 9, using the concept of a tourist information office as the basis for an interactive performance piece.

Local Cllr Samantha Dixon said: “Since its launch less than a year ago The Chester Film Co-op has really gone from strength to strength.
