Chester art teacher Louisa Poole has been exhibiting her work alongside the world renowned artist Tracey Emin at The Spirit of Womanhood exhibition.

Louisa, who teaches art at The Queen’s School in Chester, was chosen from around 1,500 to be part of a select group of 23 artists exhibiting at the OXO Tower on London’s South Bank.

Working under her maiden name of Louisa Boyd, she had three pieces from her Infinity series on display at the exhibition. The judges were Dr Amy Mechowski, Roxane Zand and Len Massey.

More than 1,000 people have seen the exhibition which had reviews in the national press and drew speeches from Cherie Blair, Melvyn Bragg and Lady Gilda Levy on the opening night.

The Spirit of Womanhood exhibition marked the double celebration of the 10 year anniversary of the Women’s Interfaith Network and International Women’s Day.

Louisa said: “My work is inspired by the natural world, and the human connection with it. I am fascinated by the innate human response to nature.

“I’m so pleased that the judges appreciated my work and to have had the opportunity to exhibit in this environment for such a worthwhile cause.”
