CHESTER FC Youth manager Calum McIntyre is hoping for a bumper crowd for tonight’s FA Youth Cup match with Chesterfield.

Having won three qualifying matches away from home against AFC Blackpool, Prescot Cables and Stalybridge Celtic, the young Blues made it into the hat for the first round proper.

McIntyre was thrilled when his side were drawn to face full-time Chesterfield at the Swansway Chester Stadium.

He said: “We have had three hard away ties and the lads have been wanting a home game under the lights and we have been lucky to get one.”

McIntyre watched the Spireites draw 1-1 with York City on Saturday in the Football League Youth Alliance.

He said: “They are going to be a strong side and we are going to have to be at our best.

“But we cannot wait to make an impression and are looking forward to the game.”

Chester sit top of the North West Youth Alliance and have won nine from nine.

McIntyre believes his side are ready for the challenge of higher-league opposition.

He said: “I have got no doubt that the quality we have got in our squad would be good enough to compete with Football League sides. We are competing at the highest level we are allowed to at the moment but we have got some real strength in our squad.”

Prolific striker Tom Peers, who has been on loan with 1874 Northwich, is available for the game.

McIntyre said: “The lads have got a real passion for the club and I think that’s something that every Chester supporter needs to see.”

Kick off is 7.45pm.
