SWIMMING: HALTON Swimming Club were in electrifying form on the first weekend of two at the Liverpool & District Championships.
Members captured a huge haul of 40 medals at Everton Park, also claiming 20 pennants.
Halton took the three medal places and five of the first six spots in the premier women's event, the 100m freestyle.
The ladies' 4x100m freestyle team struck gold. The foursome consisted of Stephanie Mahoney, Lucy Myler, Katie Holmes and Sarah-Louise Banner.
Myler and Mahoney set a blistering pace with teammates Banner, Holmes and Lindsay Jude all chasing hard. Lucy pulled ahead with 25m to go to win gold in 60.3. Stephanie was runner-up with Sarah Louise third, Katie fourth and Lindsay sixth.
Lucy added the 200m IM title after leading from the gun.
In the women's 200m back-stroke, Lindsay Jude showed great determination to win from Lucy Myler with Stephanie Mahoney making it another one-two-three.
Sarah-Louise Banner won the 15 years age group title from the same event.
In the 100m breaststroke, Katie Holmes won the 14 years age group and the championship title.
Sarah-Louise Banner took the 15 years age-group, Laura Blythe doing likewise in the 13s and Katie Scutt taking the 12-year-olds title.
Louise Wallbank won the 13 years' 400m freestyle.
William Warburton finished second in the boys' 200m breast-stroke and first in the 14 years age-group. He also won the 14s 100m backstroke, edging out rival Michael Duncan, of Wirral, while also producing a fantastic 1.05 for second at 100m butterfly.
Shaun Whitfield worked hard for U16s 1,500m freestyle gold and finished second to teammate Michael Neil at 100m backstroke.
