FISHING: RIVACRE 50-50 came through with a late rally to win the Rivacre Springs League series in their last match on Hampton Springs Fishery on Saturday, writes BRIAN ROBERTS.
They took top spot with nine points, ahead of Deggies Tackle on 11, Chester Tackle Locker (14) and Billy Gore's team (16).
Overall points totals were - Rivacre 50-50 (40); Deggies Tackle (44); Chester Tackle Locker (59); Willaston (70).
Individual victory on the day went to Willaston's Jamie Hughes with 48-3-0 of carp and tench on the Long Island pool.
Willaston's Jamie Hughes was up front in Thursday's open match on the Lingmere Fishery as a mixed catch of 67-8-0 gave him the edge over Tommy Ward with 63-12-0 and Phil Ashdown on 56-0-0.
On Saturday, top spot went to Tommy Ward with a carp-based 94-2-0 ahead of Dave Randles Snr and Phil Ashdown, both taking mixed 26-8-0 catches.
Sid Robinson came to the fore in Lobol AC's match on their Priory pool as mirror carp of 6-0-0 and 3-8-0 helped him to take a 14-0-0 total.
Ellesmere Port members of Iceland Foods AC swept the board in their match on the Manley Springs Fishery with Tony Simpkins taking a roach and bream mix of 4-14-0.
John Dodd had a carp-based 4-10-0 while John Fletcher took 2-8-0 of bits.
Wirral Borough Council AC travelled to the Llyn-y-gors Fishery on Anglesey on Saturday with top rod Kenny Stuart taking an all-carp catch of 33-10-0.
