FISHING: CASTROL SAS wreck-fished from Morgan James out of Port Dinorwic on Sunday, with Norton Cooper leading the way with a 12-0-0 pollock.

Willaston AC had a dour time in the Wyche AA Summer League on the Shropshire Union Canal at Wardle on Sunday as they finished 13th on the day and are now 11th out of the 14 teams overall.

Top weighers were Ray Rigby with 4-0-0 of small stuff, Peter Nelson with similar for 2-1-13 and Phil Cross on 1-14-0.

The Grove Fishery at Backford attracted a large following last week with Ellesmere Port's A Rix luring a 12-0-0 common carp to bread and R Powell of Little Sutton tempting a 7-0-0 common carp to luncheon meat.

John Mitchell of Ellesmere Port tempted four carp between 14-0-0 and 2-0-0 to a halibut pellet while Colin Griffiths netted a 9-6-0 mirror carp to luncheon meat.

Ellesmere Port British Legion AC fared well on Alsager's Home Farm Lake on Sunday, with John Ryder taking 20-14-0 with all carp to the 5-0-0 mark. Mike Pearson had 17-11-0 while Mike Ray took 13-1-0.

Keith Bailey led the way in the Rivacre AC match on Trentham Garden's lake. Using swim feeder and double red maggot, he netted all bream to 4-0-0 for a winning 20-6-0.

Steve Burrell had bream for 13-12-0 while Mark Greasley took 11-5-0 of roach.

John Stanley of Ellesmere Port enjoyed a successful day last week on the Harthill Fishery at Broxton as he netted 48-0-0 of roach and rudd plus three carp between 7-0-0 and 10-0-0, all taken to dog biscuit.

Peg 1 AC held a match on pool two of their Milton Green Fishery on Sunday, with Dave Gentile winning with a carp and barbel mix for 7-12-0. Macca Steadman had carp for 7-8-0 while Keith Marks had a 4-0-0 carp and bits for 7-0-0.

Paul Robinson finished the day on top in the Caldy AS match on the Brookside Fishery with a catch of all small carp for 55-0-0 while Rob Winstanley had the same for 48-2-0 and Gary White took 37-2-0 for third.

John Clarke of Ellesmere Port was rewarded with a 4-1-0 brown trout, taken to a mini viva, from the Dearnford Hall Fishery in Whitchurch.
