IAN Lancaster fought off wind and rain to land the M50 title at the second race in the Wirral Multi-Terrain Series.

He passed the post in 19th and was followed by fellow Tattenhall Runners Simon Ellis in 29th, Mark Smith 46th, Andy Blair 47th, Tim Charmley 86th, Mark Hockedy 94th and Martin Durrant 95th. The club’s ladies were led by 11th-placed Alison Smith, with Kath Scott 20th, Sara Atkinson 21st, Sue Ellis 33rd and Sharon Basford 41st.

Andrew Clague was the first West Cheshire AC member home in 29th followed by Louis Humphreys in 34th, Paul Price 42nd, Alan Bevan 50th, Chris Rhodes 62nd, Chris Cain 89th, Richard Batterham 105th, Brian Hastings 112th and Tony Thackray 144th. Sacha Kendall-Woods was 29th in the ladies race.

Dave Taylor headed the Tattenhall pack in the first race in the series with a superb sixth place. Following up were Simon Ellis in 16th, Lancaster 18th, Mark Smith 35th, Blair 43rd, Paul Miller 44th, Steve Hammond 45th, Mike Whitehead 58th, Dave Oldfield 73rd, Charmley 82nd, Alistair McAuliffe 96th and Hockedy 116th. Liz Renondeau was an excellent fourth in the ladies race, with Alison Smith 12th, Stott 20th, Sue Ellis 33rd, Jen Chambers 34th, Cath Jones 46th and Basford 48th.

Whiteside had a successful outing at the Llyn Brenig Multi-Terrain Race, finishing 18th out of 79-strong field to take the M60 title.
