AIRBUS Fly Fishers held their end of season competition and prize giving this week.

The final match of the season was held at Graiglwyd Springs at Penmaenmawr, Conwy.

A four-hour match was fished by 15 brave anglers in sleet and snow. Best catch of the day and winner of the John Price Memorial Shield was Neston angler Keith Millar with four rainbows weighing a total of 8lbs 8oz.

Alan Evans took second spot with three fish of 7lbs 8oz in total ahead of Saltney’s Vince Mengella also with three trout for exactly 7lbs.

Chester Tackle Locker staged its Silvers Match on Pool Two at Cheshire Fishing, Tattenhall on Saturday. There were some good bags of roach and skimmers caught in the bitter cold after the ice was broken.

Tackle Locker’s Andy Spencer finished second with a great bag of roach taken to caster.

The Christleton angler just edged ahead of fellow Tackle Locker angler Wendy Locker, from Hoole, who bagged 15lbs 6oz of skimmers on pellet for third. Victory went to Steve Clegg with 19lbs 15oz of roach.

Tackle Locker’s Carl Fletcher was in good form in Sunday’s Open match at Lingmere Fishery after breaking thick ice. Drawn on peg 19 of the Match Lake, Carl bagged 8lbs 6oz of carp caught on pellet for second. Only Steve Openshaw could better that with 13lbs 10oz of carp from peg 4. Third went to by Kev Thornton with 6lbs 8oz.
