Into the book
Heneghan picks up a yellow card for a nasty foul on Mafuta. We think that’s a suspension.
Not happening
Chances of the Blues getting something out of this? Not high. Time running out and so are the ideas.
Goal! Gateshead 1 Chester FC 0
Disaster for the Blues. CJ Hamilton with a shot that looks to be heading wide and it ends up in the net of a combination of Ryan Bowman and Alex Whitmore.
Big save
Jon Worsnop with an important stop, getting down to his right to beat out a deflected Cranston strike.
Scrappy affair
Game has become a little ragged with chances limited. CJ Hamilton brings a save out of Jon Worsnop.
Chances for Blues
Chester’s first two chances in the second-half. Rooney with a shot that Russell saves easily and then Hannah blasts over from 16 yards.
Another chance for the Heed
Jordan Cranston with a surging run down the left but he fires his shot high and wide under pressure
Heed chance
James Curtis with a shooting chance after Jon Worsnop’s punch from Wrightson’s corner falls to him but he blasts over from 18 yards.
Quiet opening
Not much to report early in the second period. Gateshead have probably just shaded possession but the Blues are defending well.

Jim Green's half-time verdict
It’s been good to watch considering the conditions and both teams have had opportunities to take the lead. Chester will probably feel they have had the better chances, particularly Tom Shaw, who couldn’t have done much more, and Ross Hannah, who would have expected to gobble up his chance with the kind of form he’s in.
At the other end, the left side is Gateshead’s biggest threat and Ryan Higgins might need some help in the second-half. Ben Heneghan has been outstanding.
HT Gateshead 0 Chester FC 0
That’s the end of the first-half. No goals but decent entertainment with both sides creating chances.
Gateshead chance
Ryan Higgins is having a few problems dealing with the threat from the right and Ben Heneghan and Alex Whitmore combine to prevent Paddy McLaughlin finding the target.
