Chester FC boss Steve Burr has offered a new deal to winger Craig Mahon, whose contract expired at the end of the season.

Mahon, 24, was offered new terms before jetting out to Malaysia on his honeymoon having got married last weekend.

Burr, who flew back to the UK on Tuesday having been on England C duty, has been in contact with  the ex-Vauxhall Motors midfielder, who made 27 league appearances last term.

Should Mahon sign, he will join close-season capture Sean McConville, defender Michael Kay, midfielders John Rooney and Danny Harrison, teenage forward  Tom Peers  and transfer-listed goalkeeper John Danby in the squad for 2014-15.

One player linked with the club is 36-year-old keeper Steve Phillips, who left Crewe Alexandra at the end of the season.

Phillips, who has an academy coaching role with Premier League giants Liverpool, is keen to continue his career with a non-league club in the area.
