Chester FC manager Steve Burr has made an approach to sign Ryan Higgins from AFC Telford United.

Higgins moved to New Bucks Head in September but decided against signing a contract, meaning he can freely move to another club.

An attack-minded right back, he has been an ever present for the Bucks and has played all four matches between them and Chester this season.

Burr put seven days notice of approach for the 20-year-old in on Christmas Eve and Telford have offered Higgins a new deal in response.

Telford managing director Lee Carter said: "We have made Ryan a very healthy offer, in fact the best we have offered to a player of his age.

"We have outlined how we wish to progress as a club and how valued Ryan is and how important a role he has to play.

"Ryan is currently thinking things through with his agent."

Liverpool-born Higgins progressed through the academy at Premier League club Everton, where he played alongside current Chester players Ben Heneghan and Ibou Touray.

He was released from Goodison Park in 2012 and moved to Birmingham City, initially playing for free before earning himself a professional deal.

Higgins spent time on loan at Leamington and Tamworth but did not make a first team appearances at St Andrews and was released at the end of last season.

He has been named in the Telford squad to face Nuneaton on New Year's Day.
