RUNCORN handed Worksop victory when Tony McMillan dropped what should have been a routine corner into his own net.
It was a case of hero-turned-villain since the former Preston keeper had been man-of-the-match at Barrow the previous week - but his 78th-minute error proved fatal after both sides had struggled to break the deadlock.
Some of the blame in defeat must, however, be apportioned to Runcorn's lack of presence up front, with top scorer Nicky Young serving a one match-ban, and more obviously their inability to deliver a quality final ball.
All too often, the Linnets got themselves into a good positions, in a game they largely dominated, but let the visitors off the hook.
Worksop had the better chances until home sub Kieron Durkan drilled a shot against the near post from the left edge of the six-yard box with keeper Kris Rogers stranded.
But four minutes later, the home side were behind and they never looked like recovering.
