PRESCOT were left to rue a series of missed chances as they were beaten by a late goal in this UniBond League first division game.
Rossendale keeper Mark Andrews made a magnificent save to turn a free-kick from Steve Torpey around the post on 18 minutes.
Kevin Garforth headed the subsequent corner against the post.
Carl Robinson should have put Prescot ahead on 23 minutes, but he steered Garforth's cross onto the bar from six yards out. Prescot hit the wood-work for the third time in the 60th minute when Colin Flood's long throwin deceived Andrews, but Torpey headed the rebound onto the bar.
In the 85th minute Torpey outpaced the visitors' defence, but was forced wide when Andrews got a touch on the ball as he tried to push the ball past him and the keeper recovered quickly to block his shot at the near post.
A minute later Rossendale stole the points when Greg Challander headed a deep free-kick back across goal and Chris Brooks headed home.
