Aldershot Town manager Gary Waddock gave credit to Chester FC for their approach to Saturday's 0-0 draw at the EBB Stadium.

Chester became the first team to stop the Shots winning on home turf this season at the weekend as Jon McCarthy's men put in an encouraging display in the Hampshire drizzle.

The Blues dominated the opening 45 minutes on Saturday and went close to breaking the deadlock through Ryan Lloyd and Kane Richards.

And Waddock praised Chester's game plan coming into the match but was less than happy with his own team's performance.

"You’ve got to give credit to Chester, for the way they set their stall out, but I was disappointed in the way that we played," said Waddock.

"I’m not happy with the performance, but we’re moaning about ‘only’ picking up a point. It’s another point and a clean sheet but the players have set a standard and they have to maintain that. If they dip below that they will be told, and they have been.

"The intensity wasn’t there and our passing wasn’t as crisp and accurate as it has been.

"You get games like this over the course of the season, and the players have done extremely well, but we have to be consistent."

Chester are back in action on Tuesday night (7.45pm) when they welcome bottom side Guiseley to the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium.
