Steve Burr expects Torquay United to provide stern opposition as the Blues attempt to build some momentum this evening (7.45pm).

His side recorded a 1-0 win over previously unbeaten Macclesfield Town on Saturday thanks to John Rooney’s superb free kick on 14 minutes.

Another three points tonight would represent a perfect start to September after a tough opening month.

Torquay, relegated from the Football League at the end of last season, brushed past Nuneaton Town 4-0 at the weekend.

Will the Blues take three points from the Gulls?

"They will be similar to any team in this division," said Burr.

"They're going to be strong because they've just come out of the Football League so we know how strong they're going to be and they've had a good win on Saturday.

"I think from out point of view it's having everybody, and I thought against Macclesfield we had eight out of 10s, seven out of 10s and a couple of nines, two terrific saves from Jon Worsnop when he was called upon, and we have to be at full tilt in this division to get points."

Burr has tinkered with his starting line-up over the first five weeks of the season but it would be no surprise to see him name an unchanged side to face the Gulls, who are ninth in the table after seven games.

Captain Matty Brown will not be involved as he has been ruled out for up to three weeks but the manager was more hopeful on John Disney and Peter Winn.

Jadan Hall, on loan from Premier League club Burnley, should continue on the left side of the front three after showing promise on his home debut.

Burr was delighted with Worsnop's performance in the win over Macc, the keeper pulling off two fine saves to keep his side ahead.

Worsnop endured a difficult start to his second spell with the club but told The Chronicle last week he was determined to win his critics over.

"I felt for Jon to be honest and said to him after the game on Saturday well done but that's what you're there for," joked Burr.

"Two of the saves he made were top drawer and they came again from two mistakes really. He's not got us out of jail because I felt that we deserved to win the game but I was really pleased and the fans were right behind him, you could see that.

"He's been terrific, he was terrific when he got dislodged out of the side by Freddy hall and he's come back, he's terrific in training, he's a good lad and he just wants to desperately do well for this club."

Torquay boss Chris Hargreaves has lost winger Courtney Cameron to a hamstring problem but his side are on a six-match unbeaten run and come into the game in confident mood.

Ben Young scored twice against Nuneaton with Aaron Downes and Ryan Bowman sealing a comfortable win but Hargreaves believes the Blues will be tougher opponents.

"Chester are a good side and a real danger," he told the Gulls website.

"They’ve got some good players, including John Rooney. He’s got a lot to live up to but he's a threat from free-kicks.

“They’ve got loads of fight in their bodies after being given a second chance following the reprieve from relegation last year, but we have to be more of the same.

“We won’t have the same amount of possession as we did on Saturday against Nuneaton and we’ll have to do the other side of the game, which is to be competitive.”
