James Akintunde is ready make his mark after joining Chester FC .
The striker signed for the Blues along with midfielder Wade Joyce on Thursday afternoon after impressing on trial.
The former Cambridge United man bagged a first-half hat-trick in the 5-3 win at Marine at the weekend and looked sharp during 70 minutes of football in the 1-1 draw with Nantwich Town on Tuesday evening.
Blues boss Jon McCarthy saw enough from Akintunde in those two games and in training to offer the forward a permanent deal and it is an opportunity that the 20-year-old is keen to grasp.
"Being released from a team you go through a stage thinking is it ever going to happen," he said.
"But being here, training with the team all week, I feel like I can get many goals from the way this team plays.
"The team is great, they made me feel welcome and especially with the manager as well, I feel like I can put a shift in and get as many goals as I can."
Akintunde was released by the U's at the end of last season but has strong record of scoring goals in non-league football having enjoyed fruitful loan spells at AFC Sudbury and Histon.
With trialists a plenty heading to clubs up and down the country during pre-season, Akintunde is one a select bunch of players to have made it through the auditions and earned a permanent deal but says that he has felt like a Chester player since day one.
"It is difficult (coming in on trial) but the lads have been been great with me since day one and so has the manager so I didn't really feel the pressure as I felt I was part of it," said Akintunde.
"I just want to score goals. In the past at Cambridge I didn't really get the chance but hopefully I can just make the team progress here."
