Rumoured Chester FC target Elliott Durrell is set to make a decision on his future by the end of the week.

The former Wrexham man has been linked with the Blues in recent days as well as National League North sides FC Halifax Town, Boston United and AFC Telford United, with the latter keen to bring back the 26-year-old to the New Bucks Head.

But Durrell, who became a father for the first time recently, will make a decision on where he will play his football next season by the end of the week, before clubs return to pre-season training.

Durrell, who scored 14 goals during a stint with Tamworth last season, told the Shropshire Star : "I’d like to think it will be close to being sorted by the weekend.

"Clubs are back in pre-season training next week so I’d like to get it sorted by then.

“I started my career at Telford under Rob (Smith) and Larry (Chambers) but they had me down as a right-back ,so I went to ply my trade elsewhere and blossomed at Hednesford Town.

“That’s a factor as well because I feel I’ve got unfinished business at Telford."

Prior to joining Wrexham in January 2014, Durrell made headlines after scoring a stunning solo goal while with Hednesford Town, beating several men with a mazy run straight from kick-off before firing home.

He scored 104 goals in 240 appearances for the Pitmen, prompting then Wrexham manager Kevin Wilkin to offer him his chance in full-time football.

He was released by the Dragons in June 2015 after Gary Mills took over as manager and joined Tamworth, managed by ex-Wrexham man Andy Morrell, where he rediscovered his form.
