Calum McIntyre insists that what has gone before has no bearing on tomorrow night's FA Youth Cup third round clash for his Chester FC under-18s.

The U18 head coach will take his side down to Herfortdshire for a clash with Broxbourne Borough, with the prize of a place in round four and a potential meeting with a Premier League giant on offer for the winner.

Having shocked Fleetwood Town and then Bolton Wanderers in rounds one and two, Chester head into their trip to Broxbourne in the unfamiliar position of being favourites for the clash.

But McIntyre insists that his side won't be taking anything for granted tomorrow night (7.30pm) and is fully focused on ensuring his side get the job done.

“We know a little bit about Broxbourne and they will have so much respect from us," he said.

"They are the same stage as us in this competition and are our equals, the same way Bolton Wanderers were and the same way Fleetwood Town were.

"They have players who can be a real threat to us, a big physical side but with pace up front. We have to be at our best in terms of defending and dealing with their set pieces will be a priority. We’ve prepared really thoroughly and are ready to be at our best. I’m sure they will have done similar homework on our players and we know we will have to perform to our best.

“I understand people saw our results in this competition as a huge surprise but there has always been a confidence amongst our group. We have a terrific squad of players that will match up with any team on their day.

"There will be some form of expectation on us now that we’ve had those results but we’ll just enjoy that feeling the same way we enjoyed being painted as underdogs in the last two rounds. I’ve got no interest in being told that we have done so well already in this competition and that reaching this stage is already a huge achievement. I want us to win the next game and get ourselves in the next round.”

A crowd of almost 600 turned out at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium for the 2-0 win over Bolton last month, with goals from Nathan Brown and Connor Rowbottom sealing a famous win.

A supporters coach has been put on for the trip to Broxbourne and the Blues are expected to be well backed once more.

"The support we’ve received is unbelievable and their isn’t a club that can compare to the backing we get at youth level," said McIntyre.

"I know a few are making the trip down to Broxbourne and that’s incredible. It gives the lads a boost on what are really special nights for both them and the club.

"It has been an incredible run so far in this competition and we don’t really want that to end. The Bolton and Fleetwood results weren’t flukes, they are a demonstration of the talent we have in our ranks and are a product of some real hard work. We have some outstanding individuals that only get better as a group. With players as good as ours, the pressure is all on me to prepare them properly to allow them to be at their best."
