Steve Burr reckons his side are turning the Swansway Chester Stadium into a tough place for teams to get results after the 2-1 win over Alfreton Town.

It took a goal in time added on from Craig Mahon to secure all three points but the Blues - now unbeaten in five home games - bossed the contest from start to finish and were deserved winners.

Alfreton managed one shot on target all game which resulted in Tom Shaw giving them the lead on 15 minutes but Chester did not panic.

On-loan Matty Hughes equalised on the half hour and the Blues dominated the rest of the game but keeper Cameron Dawson kept the Reds level until sub Jamie Menagh swung over a cross and Mahon's deft finish won the game with 93 minutes on the clock.

"I think we carried on where we left off against Aldershot here," said Burr afterwards.

"I said to the lads that's another win here and we're starting to make this a very difficult place to come for teams.

"I know we scored late on but we played them off the park. I wouldn't have been saying anything different but I'd have been disappointed had we not got three points because we totally dominated the game.

"We could have scored more and should have scored more, I don't know how many efforts we've had on goal altogether but for me that was thoroughly deserved.

"I thought our movement and our passing was very good. I was very excited particularly in the first half and bits of the second half

"Maybe a bit more better decision making in the first half and we could have increased our lead but the three points were more than deserved."

Alfreton punished some soft defending to go ahead through Shaw and Burr said he'd had a few harsh words for centre backs Kieran Charnock and Michael Kay during the break.

Hughes levelled with an excellent solo goal and the manager was delighted with the way his side stuck to the task, explaining he always felt a second goal would come.

Burr said: "I thought Michael and Kieran were not how I expected to be and I give them a bit of a rocket at half-time about it and I thought they were superb in the second half so it did help.

"I felt our tempo was very good and we were attacking but to concede with what I think was their effort of the game and go one down can affect you but to be the fair the lads kept going.

"We kept passing it and kept probing and we got the equaliser from another well worked move and I thought there was some good football.

"The way we were going and the way were pressing I always felt that we would score but you don't want to leave it as last as we have done because we could have been coming off with a totally different dressing room and it would have been two points lost if we hadn't have won the game so to get the win was excellent."
