Chester FC winger Jamie Menagh has reached an agreement to terminate his contract and leave the club.

Liverpool-born Menagh, who has featured 17 times this season, announced his departure on Twitter on Saturday.

He had started the last two games for the Blues, setting up Tom Peers' goal in the 2-0 win at FC Halifax Town, and the 21-year-old was under contract until the end of the season.

Chester boss Steve Burr had made it clear he wanted to move some players on to free up funds for new signings and Menagh has decided to continue his career elsewhere following discussions with the manager.

Former boss Neil Young brought Menagh, who had been on the books of Blackpool and Stoke City, to the Swansway Chester Stadium in October 2013 from Evo-Stik League outfit Prescot Cables.

He scored twice on his first start against Lincoln City and a dramatic winner in time added-on against FC Halifax Town live on BT Sport.

Menagh signed a new 12-month deal in the summer and leaves having scored four goals in 38 appearances for the club.
