Chester FC fans are again being encouraged to sign up to the club’s annual five kilometre sponsored walk which will take place prior to the final game of the season.

Organised by the club's fundraising committee, the walk is now in its third year and last season's effort raised more than £3,000.

The proceeds from this year's walk, which will start at 1pm on Saturday, April 25 before the Blues take on Nuneaton Town (5pm), will be split between youth development and the club's wheelchair supporter viewing project.

The walk will start from the Swansway Chester Stadium and work its way up Sealand Road before heading down Ferry Lane and continuing past the River Dee back towards the ground.

A standalone website www.cfcwalk.co.uk has been set up for fans to register for the walk and download a sponsorship form. Forms are also available to collect from the ticket office.

A spokesman for the fundraising committee said: "If you are unable to take part in the walk, please consider sponsoring a walker, making a donation or even doing your own sponsored event such as sponsored gardening, washing up, head shaving, car washing.

"The choice is yours abd it all raises money for youth development and the club’s wheelchair supporter viewing project."

Registration on the day of the walk begins at midday in the Blues Bar.

Once again the walk has been sponsored by Paul Bentley Wholesale Confectioners and Olympic Trophies. Participants will receive a goody bag of chocolate and water along with a commemorative medal.
