Chester FC: Blues strike sponsorship deal with BiG Storage

A BUSINESS which has backed Cheshire’s biggest basketball and rugby league clubs has signed a sponsorship deal with Chester FC.

A BUSINESS which has backed Cheshire’s biggest basketball and rugby league clubs has signed a sponsorship deal with Chester FC.

Chester-based self-storage firm BiG Storage has sealed a one-year agreement with the Blues which involves a “significant financial investment”.

The BiG Storage brand has been associated with the Cheshire Jets basketball team and rugby league giants Warrington Wolves in recent years, and partner Andrew Donaldson is happy to have now linked up with Chester’s reborn football club.

He said: “We hope to invest not only money but our expertise and experience of supporting other sporting brands.

“We look forward to making the most of the many opportunities for Chester FC and BiG Storage to support each other.”

Under the sponsorship agreement, which has an option to be extended beyond a year, BiG Storage have provided club mascot BiG Lupus as well as donating the BiG Deva rhino which stood outside the Exacta Stadium and formed part of the ‘Rhino Mania’ trail.

The firm has erected a billboard outside its Sealand Road premises advertising forthcoming fixtures and will also provide support for Chester FC’s community initiatives.

Blues chief executive Steve Ashton said: “I would like to thank Andrew Donaldson and BiG Storage for their significant support of Chester FC. Andrew was an ‘early adopter’, stepping forward and offering assistance prior to the club having a management team or league place determined. Š

“The benefits of the deal for the club have been seen already with BiG Deva attracting visitors to the ground, BIG Lupus entertaining our younger fans and billboard advertising on Sealand Road spreading the word that football in Chester is alive and well.

“As we move forward to the next phase of the club’s development, Andrew and BiG Storage will play a key supporting role in community initiatives as they have done at the Jets and Wolves.”
