Chester FC have announced the signing of Ben Barber on loan from Premier League club Stoke City.

The 20-year-old trained with the Blues this week and the switch was finalised on Friday afternoon. He will remain at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium until the end of the season.

Born in Stockport, Barber is a left-sided defender who linked up with Stoke in summer 2014 after leaving Manchester United, where he was a regular for the under-18s.

Since moving to the Potteries, Barber has featured for the under-21s and played alongside James Alabi last term. He spent time on loan at Droylsden earlier this season.

Barber's loan deal has been completed in time for him to be available for the cross-border derby with Wrexham on Saturday.
