Those fans who worked so hard to ensure the Chester FC game with Braintree Town could go ahead were left wishing they hadn't bothered.

Despite an overnight freeze, the Swansway Chester Stadium surface was in excellent condition but the action on the pitch was anything but.

Both teams struggled in possession throughout yet somehow there were five goals, unfortunately the Irons finishing up 3-2 winners .

Sean McConville's goal five minutes before half-time meant Chester started the second period with 1-0 lead but that lasted just seven minutes.

Kenny Davies equalised when Jon Worsnop's punch landed at the Braintree captain's feet and Jordan Cox put the Essex side in front three minutes later.

Matty Brown, a centre half who is the biggest goal threat for the Blues at the moment, equalised in the 75th minute but almost immediately Cox got his second of the game, and that proved to be the winning goal.
