SAFELY into the hat for the second round of the Holiday Inn Ellesmere Port Sunday League's George Williamson Memorial Jubilee Challenge Cup are Strawberry, who have had little to celebrate so far but found the winning formula to eliminate C.C.U. 5-4.

Darryl Frodsham sparked the victory with a stunning hat-trick. Craig Jones and Gary Handley also left their calling cards in a rewarding win.

Damien Dobson was another three-goal star who anchored Vauxhall to a 5-0 verdict over The Bull, and Noel Bulger followed suit in helping Sutton Way to a 4-2 result at Gunners Enterprise.

Division One side St Saviours Res were outclassed by Premier Division counterparts FC Merebrook, who endorsed a 4-0 triumph with efforts from Jamie Hough (2), Dave Ford and Mike Read.

Steve Cato's treble for The Phoenix Res was a telling contribution, but not enough to prevent his side from going out of the Castrol Challenge Cup after losing 6-4 at home to Parkside Rovers, who cemented the 6-4 win with goals from Adam Hormbrey (3), Ian Kelly, Lee Hearn and Tony Rogers.

In the Premier Division, the familiar sight of Castrol Tessuti perched on the top rung is an ominous warning to the chasing pack and on Sunday The Woodlands gave it their best shot, and scored through Justin McNally before Carl Ngiam and an own goal spared the champions' blushes.

Once they get into their stride, St Saviours are capable of mounting a serious challenge as Dysett Rangers found to their cost.

Three-goal Andy Dykes had a stormer in the 6-1 triumph. Eric Fogg scored for Cane Factory who were well spanked by a strong looking Octel AFC, Paul Cockram and Mark Ryder helping themselves to doubles as the second placed outfit won 7-1.

Division One leaders Carpet Cat Craft had to rely on a single effort from Andy Standeven to get the better of nearest rivals The Phoenix, while third placed MSC Eastham Rake saluted goals from Tony McGill (2), Mark Marriott (2), Dave Harris and Nick Taylor as Berwick Rovers were dispatched 6-2.

Alun Fellows (2), Mark Nixon and Alex Bainbridge answered the call as LPSC Strawberry crushed Kingkabs 4-1. Lee Ravenscroft hit the target for the visitors.

Unbeaten sides SCFC and Ellesmere preserved their 100 per cent records in Division Two after getting the better of Brown Horse and SJS Sir Robert respectively.

A brace from John Gibbs set leaders SCFC up for a 4-2 win while Billy Williams also netted twice in Ellesmere's 4-3 nailbiter. Third-placed Princes Rovers confirmed a 5-0 victory against Holiday Inn.
