Warrington T Res 2 Tarporley Vics 1
VICS and promotion rivals Warrington Town put on a grand spectacle in a high paced game at Cantilever Park.
Tarporley were seen as a genuine threat to Town’s unbeaten record and they gave it everything, but just fell short in the end.
At the break the score was 0-0 and Vics had a sniff of victory, so in the second half they flew out to take the game to their hosts.
A few scares were enough to focus Town and on 65 minutes they grabbed the lead, a bobbling ball across the edge of the six yard box smashed home.
Dan Haralambous and Jonny Haslam were introduced and centre back and skipper Nick Abson was pushed forward and his inch perfect through ball found Haralambous on 82 minutes.
He took one sublime touch before bending his shot into the corner of the net to equalise.
The Vics pressed for a winner but Town broke quickly on 87 minutes, and a terrific cross was converted with an excellent header which bagged the points for Town.
Malpas’ game against Poynton was postponed. They have no game this weekend.
