Any team news?

Evan Horwood suffered a broken nose last week but could feature wearing a protective mask for the trip to the Shots.

Theo Vassell, who has missed the last two games through an enforced absence after suffering concussion in the win over Sutton United last month, could also be in contention.

However, Vassell has one non-contact and one contact training session with parent club Walsall to get through before he can be passed fit for the clash.

Tell me about Aldershot Town...

Having struggled for the past two seasons, the Shots have turned a corner this campaign it seems following the summer appointment of manager Gary Waddock.

Known as the 'Wadfather' to the home faithful, Waddock is a hero at the Hampshire club after he led them back to the Football League in 2008 and has transformed their fortunes already this season.

They sit fourth in the National League with 16 points from their opening eight games. Ominously for Chester, Aldershot have won all four of their home games so far, including a 3-1 success over Tranmere Rovers last weekend.

Bernard Mensah is a danger man for the Shots with the striker having bagged three times so far this season.

What has Jon McCarthy had to say about it?

"Aldershot have been a bit weaker for the past two years but with Gary Waddock coming in they have clearly got things better off the pitch and be able to get stronger in terms of resources," said McCarthy.

"They are a model that we should be looking towards and they'll be looking to get in that top half of the table this season.

"They have had a good run of games in terms of there being a nice progression of games. They have been able to gain some momentum and get some results and that brings confidence up to where they have a great result against Tranmere.

"You can't underestimate the work they have done, the players they have brought in and what Gary Waddock has done. It will be a really good test for us."

What happened last time we met?

James Alabi scored four times in the first half as Chester ran riot at home to the Shots in March, claiming a phenomenal 8-2 success.

Sam Hughes netted two first-half goals to send Chester in 6-1 up at the break in front of a crowd of just 1,425 and they added to that tally in the second half thanks to a Ross Hannah brace.

Alabi became the first Chester player to score four goals in a game since Andy Milner in a 6-0 home win over Doncaster in February 1997 and it was the highest-scoring victory for the club since winning 8-2 at home to Peterborough in Division Four in August 1972.
