Donatas Visockis says he jumped at the chance to rejoin Cheshire Phoenix after the Lithuanian big man penned a short-term deal with the club.

The 29-year-old, who starred for the Nix under head coach John Lavery during the 2013-14 BBL season, has agreed to an initial one-month deal following the announcement by Cheshire that US import Will Faiivae would not me making the move to the club owing to 'unforeseen personal circumstances' back home.

But Faiivae's decision to remain in the US has opened the door for Visockis to rejoin the club, having spent last season with Cheshire's BBL rivals Worcester Wolves and then Surrey United.

“It feels like I am at home,” said Visockis, who pulled on a Nix jersey in the resounding 121-51 success over Templeogue at Cheshire Oaks Arena on Sunday night.

“The head coach is Lavo (John Lavery) and I really like him. He was here the season when I was here and when I knew he was back I wanted to come back. They called me up and asked me if I wanted to come back and I was happy to say yes.

“I think we are going to have a great season. We have experienced guys and young guys and they have a lot of talent and great personalities.”

A popular figure with Nix fans during his first spell, Visockis is looking forward to building on that positive relationship for a second time.

“I feel at home here because the fans, I have never seen fans like this at any club before. They are like my family and you can just talk to them and they really help you. It has a big impact on me and I'm really happy to be back and very excited for the new season.”
