A DRIVER charged with stealing £70,000 worth of wine from Quinn Glass changed his plea to guilty on the day he was to stand trial yesterday.

Ronald Straker, of Lytham Road, Blackburn, stole 3,250 cases of wine from the glass manufacturer’s factory in Elton while he was working as a haulage driver.

The 50-year-old was to face trial at Chester Crown Court yesterday having pleaded not guilty to the offence of theft from the factory in January 2010 at a hearing in January.

But he admitted the crime before judge Nicholas Woodward.
