Teenagers admit child sex assaults

TWO teenage boys have admitted sexually assaulting two five-year-olds.

TWO teenage boys have admitted sexually assaulting two five-year-olds.

The defendants, who are aged 13 and 14, had each faced charges that they raped the young boys.

But these were later dropped by the prosecution at Chester Crown Court.

The court was told the charges were samples following a string of indecent assaults which stretched up to 10 months,

The two teenage boys from Crewe then pleaded guilty to an indictment containing lesser charges of indecent assault.

Neither defendant, nor the victims, can be legally named because of their ages.

The two teenagers both pleaded guilty to a charge that they indecently assaulted one of the five-year-old boys between June 18, 2000, and April 21 this year.

They also admitted a second charge of indecently assaulting the other five-year-old boy between May 7, 2000, and April 21 this year.

Prosecutor Meirion Lewis-Jones said that these pleas were acceptable.

He said that none of the barristers involved in this case wanted to see the five-year-olds having to come to court and give evidence.

Mr Lewis-Jones added: 'These are sample charges of a number of indecent incidents that occurred from the year 2000 to April this year.'

He outlined various sexual acts performed by the two teenagers on the five-year-olds.

The case was adjourned for pre-sentence and psychiatric reports to a later hearing when the boys will be sentenced.

Judge Elgan Edwards, Honorary Recorder of Chester, warned the two teenagers that, at the next hearing, they will be made to sign on the national Sex Offenders' Register.

The defendants were both released on unconditional bail. Judge Edwards said that, at the sentencing hearing, he will consider whether or not to publicly name the teenagers.
