A TEENAGER from Childer Thornton has become the second youngest ever presenter to broadcast a live solo show on Radio City 96.7.

Teenagers are often criticised for lacking ambition, but on Sunday evening, 17-year-old Mikey Scott stepped behind the microphone to make his dreams come true.

National Broadcasting School graduate Mikey has set his sights on a radio career from an early age and was only 15 when he went on his first NBS presentation course, held at the Radio City Tower.

More than 18 months later, Mikey took to the air on Sunday evening to broadcast his first show on the station to a potential audience of around 1.8 million people across Merseyside, the North West and North Wales.

Mikey said: “This is the opportunity of a lifetime. Radio City is one of the most successful commercial stations in the UK, and to present a show on the station at this stage of my career is just a dream.”

Station director Richard Maddock said: “Radio City is always looking to support fresh new local talent and it was Mikey’s guts and determination that impressed us, as much as his ability.

“With so many teenagers out of work at the moment, he got trained and then spent months getting work experience.

“He is proof that if you have the right attitude, then your dreams can come true.”
