PENSIONS staff in Wrexham pulled together to raise more than £1,000 in a day.
Secretary Trish Harris suggested unclaimed Christmas raffle prizes be re-raffled in aid of the tsunami appeal.
In addition, staff donated new prizes and held a quiz.
It has become something of a tradition for the staff to organise dress-down days for charities such as Children in Need, Jeans for Genes Day and the Beslan appeal and they were keen to do the same for the tsunami victims. The events raised £1,012.
Scheduling and forecasting analyst Sian Hughes said: 'Due to the extent of this disaster, staff have been moved more than any other time and wanted to pull out all the stops and have raised more money than any other appeal we have done.
'No fewer than 400 staff work in this building and all took part. The majority are pensions centre staff, however, we also have Jobcentre Plus and war pensions staff.'
