A flower arranger from the Ashton Hayes and Tarvin Flower Club has won a gold medal at the RHS London Early Spring Plant Fair.

Linda Deakin and Sylvia Bower of Disley and District Flower Club were invited to represent the Cheshire area and design an exhibit on behalf of NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies).

The exhibit, described by an RHS judge as an ‘absolutely stunning presentation worthy of a gold medal for a fabulous design’, was inspired by PB Shelley’s poem Ode to Winter, specifically the closing line ‘Can Spring be far behind’ which the team utilised as their title.

Over the two-day show the distinctive design proved popular with judges and the general public alike. Linda is due to give a brief report at the next meeting of Ashton Hayes and Tarvin Flower Club on Wednesday, March 9 prior to the demonstration by Katherine Jordan entitled ‘The Wow Factor’ at Tarvin Community Centre at 7.30pm. Visitors are invited to join the club members and are assured to receive a warm welcome.
