A neglected green space close to a primary school is to be rejuvenated thanks to community activists.

Members of the community in Great Sutton have set up a group to rejuvenate the area next to Meadow  Primary School on Dolphin Crescent.

The Friends of Meadow Park held their first event to clean the area of debris and litter at the start of the month.

Organisers said the event was a  ‘great success’.

In only two hours, the group cleared the site of litter and cut back a lot of invading blackthorn.

Anyone interested in joining the  group can find more information on  Twitter @fo_meadowpark or Facebook by searching for Meadow Park.

A committee is being formed and a constitution drawn up.
