TWO men were arrested by police after a disabled golfer was robbed in Ellesmere Port.

Just after 10.20pm on Tuesday, Cheshire police were called to a report of a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver being assaulted and robbed of his takings behind the pizza parlour on Marina Drive.

The delivery driver, champion golfer Dave Waterhouse, 53 – who has the use of only one arm – was punched in the head and knocked to the ground. The suspects then ran from the scene towards Westminster Bridge.

The victim was left with cuts and bruises and taken to the Countess of Chester hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.

A number of cars were later vandalised in the Milton Road area, with the windows and wing mirrors of four cars damaged.

Cheshire Constabulary spokeswoman Shelley Williams said: “The police response to the incident was swift and led to the arrest of two local men aged 23 and 32, on suspicion of robbery and criminal damage.”

The 32-year-old arrested has been named as Clayton Peter Littler, of Swale Road, Ellesmere Port.

Littler has already been recalled to prison after being charged with a public order offence relating an incident in Thomas Telford’s on Thursday,

He was remanded in custody until February 21.

The 23-year-old was put on police bail until the same date.
