A MAN caught looking after amphetamine and cannabis worth £40,000 to £50,000 has been jailed for 21 months.

Damien Jones, 21, unemployed, of Cae Derwen, Penycae, admitted possessing the drugs with intent to supply. Police had searched his flat last July, Mold Crown Court heard.

Defence counsel Philip Tully said Jones made 'a stupid mistake' after being put under severe pressure to have the drugs.

'This young man isn't a drug dealer. He receives no financial gain whatsoever. He didn't even know the amount of the drugs when the bags were deposited in his house,' the barrister said.

'It isn't something he's done before and he's shown genuine remorse for his actions.'

Judge Philip Hughes told Jones: 'The trouble with people like you is that you provide, for those more criminally involved in drug dealing, an essential service.'
