WINNING a medal at the RHS Show at Tatton Park was the icing on a very special birthday cake for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.
The silver-gilt medal was for Sandra Taylor’s garden, entitled A Piece of Cake, which was created to celebrate the Backford hospice’s 21st birthday.
The planting had a chocolate theme, with scented plants such as chocolate cosmos and chocolate mint.
The celebration continued with black-and-white paving designed to look like piano keys and decorated topiary trees to resemble gifts.
Fundraising manager Amanda Le Bretton said: “We were absolutely delighted to achieve such a high award, especially as this was the first time we’ve had a garden at the show.
“I would like to thank all of our sponsors.”
More than 100,000 people visited the RHS Show Tatton Park during the five- day event.
