Frodsham Town Council has appointed a new chairman.

Councillor Judith Critchley, who was elected unopposed last month, was selected to the top position at the FTC meeting on February 22.

Cllr Mallie Poulton was elected as deputy mayor and will take up the role in May.

Cllr Poulton said: “I am deeply honoured and humbled that my colleagues at Frodsham Town Council have entrusted me with this role.

“I can assure the people of Frodsham that I will do my best to promote Frodsham Town in its entirety.”

He added his consort for the year would be Stroke Association of Frodsham president Jean Johnson.

Both members will serve in their new roles until May 2016.

Councillor Mike Pusey officially resigned from FTC at the same meeting, he has cited an increase in work commitments with his two businesses as the reason for stepping down.

A vacancy on the Waterside Ward has been filled by Laura Watts, she was co-opted to take the seat after three women stood to join the council.

There remains an open position in the Castle Park Ward, a notice has been issued for any potential electors to come forward before March 18.
