TV PRESENTER Angela Rippon teamed up with Ellesmere Port and Neston MP Andrew Miller to support Carers Week.

Mr Miller is recognising the contribution made by people in Ellesmere Port and Neston, and throughout the UK, who provide unpaid care for someone who is ill, frail or disabled.

The theme for Carers Week 2011 which runs this week, is The True Face of Carers.

Mr Miller met Angela at the House of Commons to pay tribute to carers, and urge they receive more support in their roles.

He said: “Thousands of people in Ellesmere Port and Neston sacrifice not only their time but also their money and their health in order to care for a loved one.

“Together they save this country an astonishing £119bn. They deserve to be recognised for their contribution to both our local community and to wider society.

“Caring can be so incredibly demanding and it’s important that carers know that they don’t have to struggle on alone.”

He added: “If there are any carers in Ellesmere Port and Neston who are experiencing problems which they think I may be able to help with they are welcome to contact me by writing to me at the House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA or by telephoning my constituency office on 0151 357 3019.”
