Chester care home manager wins Newcomer of the Year award
Susan Dutton, award-winning care home manager at Wealstone care home, in Upton, is celebrating after being named Newcomer of the Year at this year’s CLS Star Awards ceremony in Knutsford, recently.
Colleagues and visitors to the care home nominated Sue for being a ‘caring, competent yet professional individual who places the well being of residents at the heart of all she does.’
The externally judged awards celebrate the achievements of those making an exceptional contribution to the charitable organisation in their day-to-day roles, including Sue, who has ‘risen to the challenge of managing a care home well and made a real difference to the lives of the residents in her care.’
Judges commented: “Sue is an enthusiastic, marvellous home manager with clear ideas for Wealstone. She’s passionate about caring for older people, while being clear on the development and role of staff at the care home.”
Nominees from across the 26 care homes were put forward by colleagues, residents and the wider community, before being interviewed by independent judges.
The ceremony, held at The Mere Golf Resort & Spa, in Knutsford, was attended by over 200 CLS staff and was presented by Sharon Blackburn, policy and communications director, of the National Care Forum.
Robert Black, managing director for CLS Homes, said: “The CLS Star Awards ceremony is the perfect opportunity to praise the outstanding achievements of staff, and recognise individuals, like Sue, who go above and beyond their role for our staff and residents.”
