People will have the chance to show their pride in the port and boost the funds of two hospices in a calendar competition.

Active supporter of the Pride in the Port Group on Facebook John Roberts has created the competition which will be used to raise money for Claire House Children’s Hospice and the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

He noticed that lately people have been posting photographs on the group’s Facebook site.

He said: “I thought it would be great to turn this positivity into something that can help others, so I have created a competition to find 12 photographs to be made into a charity calendar for 2015.”

The competition will run until May 30, 2014.

He added: “People can enter as many photographs as they like, with the only conditions being that the image must have been taken in Ellesmere Port and must have been taken between December 15 last year and May 30.

“All photos will then be judged by a group of independent judges.

“The panel will pick 11 photos to go straight into the calendar and will shortlist a further six which will then be put up for public vote to decide the final image.”

The group/page where people can submit photos and the entry rules is available by going to www.facebook.com and searching for ‘Pride in the Port – 2015 Calendar Competition’.

The aim is to launch the calendar and have it on sale in September.

John added: “So often Ellesmere Port by its people and from outsiders is looked upon in the negative and we hope by being creative we can boost peoples thoughts about the area and the region.”
