THE proud parents of a brave teenager battling a life- threatening brain tumour have spoken of their overwhelming joy at their daughters’ outstanding A* A-level results.

Watched by her friends and family Hannah Jones, joined hundreds of nervous students at Christleton High School as she opened her A-level results today.

The 18-year-old, who has been battling a cancerous brain tumour for four years, was shocked and delighted when she opened her envelope and saw the top grades inside.

Hannah, who was named Champion of Champions in the Trinity Mirror Cheshire/ScottishPower Your Champions awards last year, received the top A* grade in Health and Social Care – which is a double award working out at one A* and one A grade – and a grade B in Psychology.

Hannah, who has worked tirelessly to raise over £140,000 for charity while studying day and night for the exams is now looking forward to starting a course in Primary Education at The University of Chester in September.

Overwhelmed Hannah told the Chronicle that she was looking forward to making new friends and enjoying new experiences at university, saying: "When I opened the envelope I was expecting three C’s, I would have been more than happy with that, that is what I needed to get in.

"I am very excited for university life, but I plan to continue doing charity work."

Filled with pride Hannah’s mother Dianne said that the results were the "best bit of news" the family could have had.

"This is just how focused she is," said Dianne.

"We are so proud she has worked so hard and is so determined. It takes her about three times as long as anyone else. It is the best bit of news we could have imagined having."
